Project background:

Part of the casting production of radiators in a certain enterprise: the casting machine produces cast 

radiators, the finished radiators and the edge materials are poured onto the conveyor belt, the finished 

radiators are picked up manually and put into the material frame, and the edge materials are transported 

back to the casting machine with the movement of the conveyor belt. However, with the acceleration of 

the production pace, workers are prone to fatigue and boredom when facing high-intensity and repetitive 

labor, which leads to lower work efficiency. In addition to the poor working environment and rising labor 

costs, these problems faced by manual labor also restrict the further development of the enterprise, and 

intelligent and automated transformation and upgrading are effective ways to solve this problem.

Project requirements:

4 different specifications of radiators and edge materials are conveyed on the conveyor belt at the same 

time. The camera collects the target point cloud data. The algorithm identifies the radiator from the point 

cloud data and gives the calculated grasping position and posture to the robot to guide the robot to 

perform dynamic grasping.


Technical analysis:

1. Traditional 2D vision cannot obtain the 3D position information of the radiator, and the 3D camera can 

meet the requirements;

2. Select a laser scanning imaging 3D camera, and install the camera at an appropriate distance above 

the conveyor belt to meet the field of view and accuracy requirements;

3. Combine two-dimensional recognition technology to distinguish radiators and edge materials.
